Description

1971-72 O-Pee-Chee Tommy Williams #31 California Golden Seals Hockey Card Celebrate a pioneering icon of American hockey with this exceptional 1971-72 O-Pee-Chee Tommy Williams card, a landmark piece for serious sports collectors. Tommy Williams stands as one of the most significant American players of his generation, famously starring on the United States Olympic Hockey Team that captured a historic Gold Medal at the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley. As a professional, Williams became the only regular American-born player in the NHL during the 1960s, turning in highly productive seasons for the Boston Bruins and Minnesota North Stars before bringing his elite hockey IQ and veteran presence to the California Golden Seals. Affectionately nicknamed "Lightning on Skates," Williams brought speed, finesse, and star power to the Bay Area hockey market. This collectible features a beautiful studio portrait of Williams framed by the classic 1972 layout, perfectly showcasing the historical California Golden Seals logo and color palette. The reverse features the legendary Canadian O-Pee-Chee bilingual back, complete with full English and French translations detailing his incredible career milestones. A comprehensive notes that this card is an excellent example of vintage manufacturing. The corners are well-preserved, exhibiting slight corner wear on the lower left tip but remaining square and firm overall. The factory borders are excellent, showing very light edge chipping along the lower margin that does not detract from the visual appeal. The front centering leans slightly toward the right border but remains well within acceptable parameters for a conservative vintage grade. Both the front and back surfaces are immaculate, with no signs of scratching, fading, or toning, ensuring it remains an appealing choice for any hobbyist. Grade Estimate: EX 5
