Description

1972 O-Pee-Chee Dick Wesolowski #4 Hamilton Tiger-Cats CFL Discover a gritty role player from Hamilton's 1972 championship run with this 1972 O-Pee-Chee Dick Wesolowski #4 Hamilton Tiger-Cats CFL card, a perfect addition for team set builders who appreciate depth pieces. Dick Wesolowski saw a lot of action as a rookie in 1969 and demonstrated strong future possibilities in 1970 while replacing fullback Willie Bethea, eventually carving out a niche as a dependable back who could carry the ball in short yardage and contribute on special teams. In 1969 he rushed for a memorable 454 yards in limited duty and showed the toughness that Hamilton coaches valued during an era when Canadian backs needed to be versatile and durable. The 1972 Tiger-Cats were built on that kind of unselfish play, with veterans like Wesolowski accepting roles that allowed stars like Dave Buchanan and Tommy Joe Coffey to excel while still being ready when his number was called. The front of this card features the classic yellow Tiger-Cats border, a portrait of Wesolowski in his number 27 jersey with his wavy hair and focused expression capturing the seventies aesthetic perfectly, and the position designation as Back. The back continues the beloved Canadian O-Pee-Chee bilingual back format with blue and green printing, cartoon Charged For in 1970, and bilingual text explaining his rookie emergence and 1969 performance, printed in Canada by O P C, not a puzzle back, which makes it distinctly more scarce than Topps. Front centering is about 65/35 left to right with yellow border heavier on left, corners are intact with slight rounding on top corners, edges show light chipping along bottom yellow border but no major whitening, surface is clean with no creases or wrinkles and good photo clarity, back has uniform light brown toning with sharp blue border, no stains or marks, text fully legible, corner wear minimal. This is a solid mid grade common that displays well and helps complete the early numbers of the 1972 Hamilton team set. Grade Estimate: EX 5
