Description

1972-73 O-Pee-Chee Ron Ellis #36 Toronto Maple Leafs Own a true Maple Leafs legend with this 1972-73 O-Pee-Chee Ron Ellis #36 Toronto Maple Leafs card, spotlighting one of the most consistent and respected right wingers in franchise history and a member of Team Canada 1972. Ron Ellis played his entire 16 season NHL career in Toronto from 1964 to 1981, appearing in 1034 games, scoring 332 goals and 308 assists, and winning the Stanley Cup in 1967 as a key two way forward. Born in Lindsay Ontario in 1945, Ellis was known for his effortless skating, durability, and ability to score 20 goals almost every season, topping 20 goals ten times and 30 goals once. He was an NHL All Star, a gentleman on and off the ice, and famously scored the tying goal for Canada in Game 6 of the legendary 1972 Summit Series against the Soviet Union, a moment that kept Canada alive in the series. By 1972-73 Ellis was entering his prime, coming off a 24 goal season and providing veteran leadership. This O-Pee-Chee card captures him in the classic blue Leafs uniform with the A on his chest, in a low skating stance on the orange background that makes Toronto cards pop in this set. The set is highly collectible for its bright colors and large photos. This is the Canadian O-Pee-Chee version with the bilingual English and French back and cartoon illustration showing him relaxing playing guitar, not a puzzle back, printed in Canada with full career record and bilingual biography. Front shows relatively sharp corners with only light softening at the lower left, edges are clean with minimal chipping on the beige border, gloss is strong, image is focused, centering is about 55/45 left to right and 50/50 top to bottom which is above average for this issue. The back shows light even toning, crisp black text for stats, no writing or stains, slight corner wear at bottom, no creases or surface wrinkles, which supports a conservative EX-MT 6 grade that acknowledges minor age wear but strong overall eye appeal. The 1972-73 O-Pee-Chee Ron Ellis #36 Toronto Maple Leafs is a must have for Leafs lifers, Summit Series collectors, and fans of 1970s consistent scorers who defined Toronto hockey. Grade Estimate: EX-MT 6
