Description

1972-73 O-Pee-Chee Red Berenson #123 Detroit Red Wings EX 5 Red Berenson's 1972-73 O-Pee-Chee card celebrates one of the most famous nicknames and one of the most famous single games in modern hockey history, all wrapped in the set's cheerful green backdrop and yellow banner design. Berenson is pictured in his Detroit road whites with the winged wheel on his chest, and the circular team logo repeats at the lower right beside his name. The O-Pee-Chee Canadian printing, with its smaller production and bilingual reverse, makes this single especially desirable for collectors of the Red Wings, of the St. Louis Blues era, and of the great scorers of the late 1960s. The back leads with the legend. The Red Baron holds the modern NHL record with six goals in one game in 1968, a feat accomplished on the road against Philadelphia, and the cartoon panel adds that Red once scored four goals in a single period. The text also notes that he is one of the fastest skaters in the game and that he played for Montreal, New York, St. Louis, and Detroit, a tour of classic franchises that reads like a hobby wish list. His printed totals of 530 games, 155 goals, 223 assists, and 378 points underscore a genuinely dangerous offensive career, and the French translation carries the same bragging rights for bilingual collectors. this copy shows a small blue stain on the right side of the green background, gentle softness at a couple of corners, and light edge wear on the tan borders, but the photo stays glossy with no creases or wrinkles and the centering remains acceptable for the issue. The reverse confirms the Canadian O-Pee-Chee bilingual back rather than a puzzle back, with crisp two language text and only mild perimeter toning. Because of the visible stain and corner softness, the conservative and honest estimate is EX 5, priced so that Berenson fans can own the Red Baron without paying premium money. Anyone building Detroit or Blues legends will enjoy this 1972-73 O-Pee-Chee Red Berenson #123. Grade Estimate: EX 5
