Description

1972-73 O-Pee-Chee Player Crests Jacques Laperriere #11 Push-Out Insert Montreal Canadiens Hall of Fame pedigree meets one of the most distinctive insert designs of the 1970s in this 1972-73 O-Pee-Chee Player Crests Jacques Laperriere #11 Push-Out Insert Montreal Canadiens. Laperriere was the elegant backbone of the Montreal blue line for more than a decade, winning the Calder Trophy as rookie of the year in 1964, capturing the Norris Trophy as the league's best defenseman in 1966, and lifting the Stanley Cup six times in the bleu, blanc et rouge. When this crest was pulled from 1972-73 first series wax packs, Laperriere was a revered veteran on a Canadiens club that would storm to yet another Stanley Cup championship that very spring of 1973. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1987 and later added more Cup rings as a long-serving Montreal assistant coach, cementing one of the most decorated careers in the history of the sport's most decorated franchise. The Player Crests set is a Canadian exclusive of just 22 die-cut NHL shield cards on silver stock, and Canadiens examples are perennially the most demanded by the set's largely Canadian collector base. This is an authentic O-Pee-Chee issue with bilingual English and French push-out instructions printed on the front of the card; the reverse is the correct factory blank tan back showing the embossed outline of the die-cut shield, so please note it is not a printed bilingual back or puzzle back, which is accurate to how the set left the London, Ontario plant. The shield has never been pushed out and the die-cut perforations are completely intact. the front offers excellent eye appeal with rich red and black shield colors and a sharp smiling portrait, four corners with only light touch wear, faint edge rub along the right border, centering essentially even side to side with a slight downward shift, and no creases, wrinkles, surface marks or stains detected; the blank back shows smooth, even vintage toning and a clean embossed impression. We grade conservatively, as strict graders routinely cap silver die-cut issues below their visual presentation. A superb Hall of Famer from hockey's royal franchise at a mid-grade price. Grade Estimate: EX-MT 6
