1971 O-Pee-Chee Sal Bando #285 Third Base Oakland Athletics (EX 5)

Description

1971 O-Pee-Chee Sal Bando #285 Third Base Oakland Athletics (EX 5) Own the captain of the legendary Oakland dynasty with this authentic 1971 O-Pee-Chee Sal Bando #285 vintage card. Sal "Captain Trash" Bando was the rugged emotional leader and star third baseman who anchored the iconic Oakland Athletics squads of the early 1970s. A multi-time All-Star, Bando finished in the top five of MVP voting three times and was instrumental in leading Oakland to three consecutive World Series championships. This card features a striking portrait of Bando framed by the notoriously sensitive black borders that make the 1971 release an absolute mountain to climb for condition-minded set builders. Because O-Pee-Chee variants were printed in much lower quantities than their American Topps counterparts, finding clean copies like this in Canada is getting harder by the day. The reverse features the classic bilingual text detailing his stellar 1970 campaign where he led the Athletics with 30 home runs and 113 RBIs. The fragile jet-black obverse borders exhibit standard minor edge chipping and small white flecks, which is absolutely customary for ungradable raw cards from this specific year. The corners are uniform with light, soft vintage rounding. Image centering is shifted toward the upper left corner. The bright yellow back has deep ink clarity, exceptional legibility, and shows no severe flaws, heavy wrinkles, or vintage pocket creases. Grade Estimate: EX 5
