The 1971 O-Pee-Chee baseball release is legendary among hobbyists for its beautiful but unforgiving black-bordered design, which shows the slightest hint of wear instantly. This card captures the rugged right-handed pitcher Jerry Johnson ready to pick up a grounder with his glove out. Johnson enjoyed a long career in professional baseball, serving as a reliable arm for multiple teams, with his time in San Francisco showcasing his stamina and consistency out of the bullpen.

Condition Report: This specimen displays honest vintage wear that gives it great character. The black borders exhibit moderate chipping along the outer edges, showing the raw gray cardboard stock underneath as is common for this issue. The corners show noticeable softening and slight rounding, particularly on the lower right corner. Edges are generally straight with minor indentation marks. Centering is biased toward the upper left corner, resulting in uneven borders. The surface shows a clean front photo layer with excellent color, completely free of severe creases or surface wrinkles. The reverse side shows slight toning but remains completely legible and solid.
