1971 O-Pee-Chee Gary Nolan #75 Cincinnati Reds Bring home a key pitcher from Cincinnati’s championship generation with the 1971 O-Pee-Chee Gary Nolan #75 Cincinnati Reds. Nolan’s poised portrait stands out against a brilliant blue sky, while the black border, orange REDS header, green name and white position line create the unmistakable look collectors associate with 1971 baseball. The bold Gary Nolan signature across the lower photograph is a factory printed facsimile and not a hand signed autograph. This Canadian O-Pee-Chee edition is substantially scarcer than the corresponding American Topps card and is readily identified by its yellow and black reverse, bilingual English and French copy and Printed in Canada designation. It is a Canadian O-Pee-Chee bilingual back, not a puzzle back. The issue’s dark borders reveal every touch, making naturally worn but honest examples especially appealing to collectors who value vintage character. Gary Nolan arrived in the majors as a teenage pitching sensation in 1967, winning 14 games, posting a 2.58 earned run average and striking out 206 hitters. His fastball and precocious command made him one of the most closely watched young pitchers of his era. By 1970 he had become an important starter for the National League champion Reds, and he later contributed to Cincinnati’s World Series championship clubs in 1975 and 1976. Nolan’s career was repeatedly challenged by arm trouble, yet he still reached 110 major league victories and played a meaningful role during the transition from Cincinnati contender to Big Red Machine dynasty. That combination of early brilliance, resilience and championship pedigree gives this card relevance well beyond ordinary team completion. The reverse records Nolan’s career through 1970, including his strong 1967 debut, and pairs the statistics with bilingual biography text and a period black and white portrait. The front has noticeable white wear at all four corners, with heavier whitening at the lower left and upper right, plus fine chipping along the top, left, right and bottom black edges; scattered white flecks appear in the dark header and around the image frame. The card remains colourful with a sharp central portrait, and centering looks close to even with a modest side to side imbalance. A curved light line is visible near the upper right corner, but the photographs do not establish whether it is a shallow card wrinkle or a mark on the plastic sleeve, so it is not represented as a confirmed crease. The yellow reverse displays uniform age toning, edge rub and softened corners, with no handwriting, major stain or missing paper visible. No definite full crease can be traced across both sides from the supplied scans. The cautious VG-EX 4 estimate recognizes the strong eye appeal and lack of a confirmed structural defect while accounting for pervasive border chipping, corner wear and the uncertain upper right line. This is an attractive Canadian vintage card of a two-time World Series champion and an essential pitching figure in Reds history. Grade Estimate: VG-EX 4
