Description

1971 O-Pee-Chee CFL Chip Barrett #6 UBC Toronto Argonauts (VG-EX 4) Capture the speed of the 1970s Argonauts with this original 1971 O-Pee-Chee CFL Chip Barrett card #6. The front features a great full-body action photo of the speedy defensive halfback breaking out across the turf. Flip the card over to see the iconic O-Pee-Chee bilingual back which proudly showcases a comic detail about how Chip "does the 100 in 9.8" seconds during track competitions. Chip Barrett was a highly touted Canadian talent who starred at the University of British Columbia, winning the "Back of the Year" honors before joining Toronto. Known for his blistering raw speed and closing capability on the field, Barrett became a crucial defensive cog during an exciting rebuilding era for the Argonauts organization under coach Leo Cahill. This specimen is a clean example of mid-grade vintage material, landing a raw grade estimate of Very Good-Excellent (VG-EX 4). The card features solid eye appeal but shows standard signs of handling. The corners show modest touches of wear and softening. The sensitive red borders display a few tiny spots of edge chipping. The centering tilts towards the bottom-left corner. The surface is smooth with a tiny hairline wrinkle near the top border that does not break the front paper gloss. The back text remains bold and completely legible against the aged paper backdrop. Grade Estimate: VG-EX 4
