Description

1971 O-Pee-Chee CFL Bill Symons #1 Key Set Starter Toronto Argonauts (EX-MT 6) Kickstart your set assembly with the very first card in the checklist: the 1971 O-Pee-Chee CFL Bill Symons card #1! Owning a number-one card in any vintage sports release is a major achievement for a collector due to the extra wear these tracker cards typically sustained from rubber bands and handling. This card boasts a crisp front photo showcasing the legendary Toronto Argonauts running back staring ahead confidently against a bright sky backdrop. The back features a complete O-Pee-Chee bilingual bio noting that "Sye" was Canada's Schenley Award winner in 1968 and a dominant force in the Eastern division. Bill Symons is a true Toronto Argonauts icon and one of the most prolific running backs of his generation. He made history by becoming the first ever Argonaut to rush for over 1,000 yards in a single season, earning him the prestigious Schenley MVP Award as the league's top player. His powerful running style led Toronto through multiple playoff runs and cemented his legacy in the Canadian Football Hall of Fame. This highly collectible set starter presents in fantastic vintage shape, achieving a raw grade estimate of Excellent-Mint (EX-MT 6). Number-one cards are rarely found with edges this clean. The corners are sharp with only negligible touches on the tips. The front's deep red borders look clean and punchy, minimizing the white chipping that plagues most 1971 OPC copies. The centering is remarkably strong, sitting very near 55/45 left-to-right. The gloss is bright, and the surface is free from any deep scratches or creases. The reverse side features crisp text and cartoon illustrations with clean cream-colored cardstock backing. Grade Estimate: EX-MT 6
