1971 O-Pee-Chee Bayne Norrie #46 Edmonton Eskimos Discover a versatile Canadian talent with this 1971 O-Pee-Chee Bayne Norrie #46 Edmonton Eskimos card, featuring a Joe Clarke Memorial Trophy winner who excelled on both sides of the ball. The 1971 O-Pee-Chee CFL set is a vintage Canadian classic, with bold red borders, large player photos, and fully bilingual backs that include fun cartoon trivia in English and French. Printed in Canada and never released in the United States, it holds a special place for collectors who appreciate true Canadian football history. Bayne Norrie is a great story within that history. Listed as a non import, 5 foot 10, 190 pounds from Queens University, Norrie played six years at Queens, as noted on his pink cartoon bubble that says Bayne played six years at Queens. A three year veteran of the Eskimos at the time, he won the Joe Clarke Memorial Trophy in 1970 as the outstanding Canadian rookie in the Western Conference, and he was switched from defence to offence in mid season, showing his rare two way ability. Wearing number 23 as a split end, Norrie brought intelligence and sure hands to the Edmonton offense after starting on defence, a transition that is highlighted in both languages on the back. For Queens Gaels football fans, Canadian university football historians, and Eskimos collectors who love homegrown talent, this card is a must have. The front shows Norrie kneeling on the grass in his green and gold uniform, a classic 1971 pose with bright blue sky behind him. This is a Canadian O-Pee-Chee bilingual back with English and French text, cartoon fact about his Queens career, and O-Pee-Chee Printed in Canada markings. Front centering is excellent at about 55/45 both ways, one of the better centered cards on this sheet, with vibrant colors and no surface scuffs. Corners are sharp with only the faintest softening at the top left visible under close light, and the red border shows almost no chipping. The back is clean tan stock with even toning, no creases, no wrinkles, and crisp printing throughout. There are no stains, pen marks, or surface indentations. We assign a conservative raw grade of EX-MT 6 due to the strong corners and centering, making it a very presentable example for a 1971 O-Pee-Chee common that is harder to find in high grade. Collectors searching for 1971 O-Pee-Chee Bayne Norrie #46 Edmonton Eskimos will be pleased with the eye appeal of this Canadian award winner. Grade Estimate: EX-MT 6
