Description

1971-72 O-Pee-Chee Wayne Connelly #237 Vancouver Canucks Complete your early 1970s expansion sets with this classic 1971-72 O-Pee-Chee Wayne Connelly card. This piece acts as a phenomenal hook for hockey historians who cherish the journeymen heroes of the original expansion era. Wayne Connelly was known throughout the original six and early expansion era as a highly reliable, smooth-skating right winger with a quick release. His veteran presence was heavily relied upon during the Vancouver Canucks' initial seasons in the National Hockey League to build team identity. The back of the card features a detailed overview of his stats with the Boston Bruins, Minnesota North Stars, Detroit Red Wings, and St. Louis Blues. It highlights his accurate shot, which generated 23 power-play goals in a previous single season. The card reverse features the traditional O-Pee-Chee bilingual back with a charming cartoon illustration detailing his background. Our highlights that the reverse side presents a well-preserved green-and-white color layout. The corners exhibit slight softening, typical for vintage stock of this era, but they maintain their block shape without split layers. The edges show clean cuts with minimal factory chipping along the borders. The centering is shifted slightly to the left, which is very common for this specific print run. The card surfaces are clean, free of wax stains, wrinkles, or heavy reverse marks. This item offers a great balance of eye appeal and vintage character for a mid-grade raw set tracker.
