1971-72 O-Pee-Chee Poul Popiel #1 Vancouver Canucks

Description

1971-72 O-Pee-Chee Poul Popiel #1 Vancouver Canucks Capture a unique piece of international hockey history with this 1971-72 O-Pee-Chee Poul Popiel card. As a highly desirable addition, this card hooks collectors looking for unique player profiles from the early 1970s NHL. Born in Denmark, Poul Popiel made history as one of the very first European-born players to carve out a steady career in the modern NHL era. He brought an assertive, rugged defensive style to the blueline for the expansion Vancouver Canucks during their 1970-71 campaign. The card back showcases his extensive professional history traversing the AHL, CPHL, and NHL, while noting his distinction as a former Rookie of the Year winner in the Central Hockey League. The card incorporates the quintessential O-Pee-Chee bilingual back, sharing his story in both official Canadian languages alongside a fun cartoon panel. A focused reveals that the card corners show modest wear and softening from storage over the decades, avoiding heavy rounding or creasing. The card borders show normal aging color, and the edges are uniform without notable chips or shelf marks. The rear layout displays robust print registration, though it tracks the typical off-center formatting standard to early 70s OPC production lines. The surface remains completely flat without horizontal wrinkles or paper defects. It is an excellent filler card to keep your vintage hockey collection moving toward completion.
