This 6-page "comic story" booklet features the career and highlights of Dale Tallon, a cornerstone of the early Vancouver Canucks franchise. These booklets were elusive inserts found in O-Pee-Chee and Topps wax packs, making them much harder to find than the standard base cards. What makes this specific O-Pee-Chee version a standout for collectors is the back cover, which features a Hockey Booklet Checklist printed in Canada. Finding these booklets with an unmarked checklist—as seen here—is exceptionally rare, as most young fans at the time used them for their intended purpose.
Condition Report:
This booklet is in impressive Excellent (EX) condition for its age:
- Corners: Showing light, consistent softening but no major creasing or severe blunting.
- Edges: Generally smooth with some very minor handling wear along the booklet's spine.
- Centering: Front centering is slightly shifted toward the right.
- Checklist Back: Pristine and unmarked. The colors remain vibrant with no ink, pencil, or stamp marks.
- Interior: Pages are intact and attached.
Grade Estimate:
EX 5 (Excellent)
A very strong raw example. While the centering and corner softening prevent a higher grade, the lack of marks on the checklist back is a significant value driver for vintage O-Pee-Chee collectors.
