Dave Keon #259 2nd All-Star Team Toronto Maple Leafs VG-EX 4
Own a piece of Maple Leafs royalty! This 1971-72 O-Pee-Chee #259 features Hall of Fame legend Dave Keon, honoring his selection to the NHL's 2nd All-Star Team. This "All-Star Team" insert series is highly collectible for its distinctive yellow-bordered design and historical significance, capturing Keon during one of his most dominant eras in Toronto.
Dave Keon is widely regarded as one of the greatest players to ever don the blue and white. By the time this card was released, Keon had already secured four Stanley Cup championships and a Conn Smythe Trophy. The 1970-71 season leading up to this card was particularly historic for Keon, as he set a career-high with 38 goals and won the Lady Byng Trophy for his gentlemanly play—a feat noted right on the card's bilingual back.
This card features the iconic O-Pee-Chee bilingual back, a hallmark of vintage Canadian hockey cards that includes player stats and a short biography in both English and French. The vibrant yellow front remains bold, making it a standout addition to any vintage hockey set or player collection.
Condition Report:
- Centering: Typical for the era, the card has a noticeable right-to-left centering shift (approx. 80/20).
- Corners: All four corners show visible softening and moderate rounding, consistent with a mid-grade vintage card.
- Edges: The right and bottom edges exhibit the characteristic O-Pee-Chee "rough cut" with mild chipping and feathering.
- Surface: The front surface displays good color with no major creases visible. The back remains clean with clear, legible text.
Grade Estimate:
VG-EX 4 (Raw). The heavy centering shift and corner softening are the primary factors, but the card retains excellent eye appeal and a clean, crease-free surface.
