1970 O-Pee-Chee Ron Forwick #54 Edmonton Eskimos CFL Football Card VG 3

Description

1970 O-Pee-Chee Ron Forwick #54 Edmonton Eskimos CFL Football Card VG 3 Honest, affordable vintage CFL cardboard is getting harder to find every year, and this second example of the 1970 O-Pee-Chee Ron Forwick #54 offers exactly that, a well-loved copy of the Edmonton Eskimos defensive end shown in his familiar three point stance at Clarke Stadium with the CKXL Roosters Club sign in the background. Forwick was an Edmonton story through and through, a six foot four, 245 pound产品 of the Edmonton Huskies junior program who grew into one of the Western Conference's most reliable Canadian defensive ends. The bilingual reverse celebrates his rookie of the year award in 1965 and describes him as a hustler every time on the field, considered to be one of the league's best pass rushers, words that carried real weight when Western Conference offences feared the Eskimos pass rush on frozen autumn afternoons. The back is the classic Canadian O-Pee-Chee bilingual back, black bordered with the English and French biographies printed side by side, a green cartoon quiz panel at the base and the PRINTED IN CANADA imprint, and it is a bilingual text back, not a puzzle back, an important distinction for set builders who track the 1970 issue's distinctive format. Cards from the 176 card 1970 O-Pee-Chee CFL set rarely survive in high grade, and copies like this one represent the sweet spot for collectors who want authentic fifty year old Canadian football history at a working budget, since the same design, same photography and same bilingual back are present as on the finest known examples. For a Ron Forwick player run or an Edmonton Eskimos team set, a mid grade copy like this often makes more sense than paying a premium for a card that will simply sit in a binder. this copy shows a light crease in the upper right area that is visible on close inspection under angled light, slightly rounded and whitened corners with the top left showing the most wear, minor edge chipping along the top border, centering of approximately 60/40, strong unbroken color and gloss elsewhere on the front photograph, and a black bilingual back that mirrors the corner wear with all English and French text and the green cartoon panel remaining fully readable. Graded conservatively at VG 3 because even a light crease caps the technical grade on a card of this age regardless of how attractive the rest of the copy presents, this is an honestly graded, budget friendly 1970 O-Pee-Chee Ron Forwick #54 that will not disappoint. Grade Estimate: VG 3
