The 1970 O-Pee-Chee Moses Denson rookie card introduces one of the most underrated running backs in Montreal Alouettes history at the exact moment he entered the league, and it comes from the landmark set that returned Canadian football cards to store shelves after more than five years without an issue. the corners show light rounding with a slight softness at the bottom left and a touch of whitening at the top corners, there is a small surface scuff in the sky area to the right of the helmet, the edges are clean on all four sides with one tiny rough spot near the bottom, centering is strong and well balanced, the portrait retains rich colour and gloss, and the black bilingual reverse is bright, glossy and unmarked with only light corner wear. 1970 O-Pee-Chee Moses Denson #103 Montreal Alouettes VG-EX 4 The 1970 O-Pee-Chee Moses Denson rookie card introduces one of the most underrated running backs in Montreal Alouettes history at the exact moment he entered the league, and it comes from the landmark set that returned Canadian football cards to store shelves after more than five years without an issue. Denson's path to Montreal was anything ordinary: a 208 pound running back from Akron, Ohio, he served as a United States Marine Corps veteran before starring at Maryland State University, where he rushed for a staggering 1,714 yards over his final 14 varsity games, the exact total celebrated in the cartoon panel on this card's reverse. Sharing a hometown backfield lineage with the great Don Clark, Denson joined an Alouettes offence in 1970 that would fuel the club's astonishing climb from a 2-8 record to the Grey Cup championship, and he went on to become a central figure in the Montreal powerhouse of the mid-1970s, helping the franchise reach three consecutive Grey Cup games and win the 1974 title. For collectors of Canadian football history, his card is a genuine key rookie from the era, and examples are far scarcer than American issues of the same year because the entire O-Pee-Chee CFL print run was distributed only in Canada. The card carries the authentic Canadian O-Pee-Chee bilingual back with the biography in English and French above the olive green cartoon panel, and it is not a puzzle back, unlike the puzzle-themed sets O-Pee-Chee released in 1971 and 1972. the corners show light rounding with a slight softness at the bottom left and a touch of whitening at the top corners, there is a small surface scuff in the sky area to the right of the helmet, the edges are clean on all four sides with one tiny rough spot near the bottom, centering is strong and well balanced, the portrait retains rich colour and gloss, and the black bilingual reverse is bright, glossy and unmarked with only light corner wear. Weighing the light corner wear and minor scuff against the clean edges and strong centering, we land on a conservative raw grade of VG-EX 4, an honest floor that lets the buyer decide whether the card's overall eye appeal earns a higher opinion when it reaches a grading table. Grade Estimate: VG-EX 4
