Description

1970 O-Pee-Chee Jerry Bradley #30 British Columbia Lions VG 3 The 1970 O-Pee-Chee Jerry Bradley #30 British Columbia Lions VG 3 card is an affordable original collectible from a classic era of Canadian professional football. Bradley appears in the Lions’ white uniform with orange shoulder accents, kneeling on the turf beneath a clear blue sky. His number 12 is prominent, while the vintage roaring lion logo at the lower right gives the card immediate appeal for British Columbia collectors. This second copy is especially suitable for a set builder who values an authentic, complete example and accepts visible circulation wear. O-Pee-Chee issued this 115-card CFL set in Canada in 1970, adapting a layout closely associated with the second series of the 1969 Topps football release. Unlike the American cards’ simple backgrounds, many cards in this Canadian series feature fields and stadium seating, preserving a vivid visual record of CFL venues and uniforms. Bradley played flanker for the BC Lions and attended East Tennessee State University. His bilingual biography explains that he was released by the Toronto Argonauts before being recalled to Canada by the Lions and mentions his participation in the East-West Shrine Game during his senior year. These details provide an engaging connection between American college football and the Canadian professional game. Bradley’s role as a flanker placed him among the receiving targets responsible for stretching defences and supporting the wide-open style for which the CFL became famous. The reverse combines statistics, biography, and a humorous cartoon panel. It is an authentic Canadian O-Pee-Chee bilingual back printed in English and French, not a puzzle back. That bilingual presentation is one of the defining differences between this release and comparable Topps issues, enhancing its cultural and historical interest. This example has a confirmed crease, as disclosed, which materially limits the grade even though the card remains visually presentable in a sleeve. The corners show moderate rounding, with visible wear at the tips, and the cream front borders exhibit age toning, small marks, and intermittent chipping. Minor print defects and surface wear are visible against the sky and light uniform areas. Centering is somewhat uneven, with the image and lower caption showing a modest factory alignment bias. The back has conspicuous white chipping and rubbing around the black border, especially at the corners and along portions of the sides. The green cartoon panel and bilingual text remain readable, and there is no obvious large area of paper loss or added writing. Because a crease is present, the card is conservatively estimated at VG 3 rather than a higher technical grade. The attractive colour and complete image support the grade, while the crease, corner softness, edge wear, and surface evidence prevent a VG-EX assessment. This card is raw and has not been authenticated or graded by a third-party service. Grade Estimate: VG 3
