1970 O-Pee-Chee Jack Abendschan #84 CFL Hall of Famer Saskatchewan Roughriders EX4

Description

1970 O-Pee-Chee Jack Abendschan #84 CFL Hall of Famer Saskatchewan Roughriders This 1970 O-Pee-Chee Jack Abendschan #84 is a must-have for any serious Canadian Football League collector, because it captures a true CFL Hall of Famer at the height of his legendary career with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Jack Abendschan joined the Roughriders in 1967 and went on to become one of the most durable and celebrated offensive linemen in franchise history, anchoring the line that helped Saskatchewan capture the 1966 Grey Cup just before his arrival and remaining a force throughout the 1970s. Unusually for an offensive guard, Abendschan also served as the team's place kicker, giving this card a wonderfully distinctive printed position of offensive guard and place kicker that makes it stand out in any collection. O-Pee-Chee produced the 1970 CFL set with authentic bilingual backs, printing English and French text side by side so the greats of Canadian football could be enjoyed coast to coast. As card number 84 in the 115-card 1970 O-Pee-Chee CFL set, this example belongs to the heart of the Roughriders team run alongside Reed, Lancaster, and Kosid. The front features Abendschan in the classic green and white Saskatchewan uniform with a clean portrait and bold team branding, while the reverse tells his story in both of Canada's official languages. The scan reveals a card with no visible creases and what appears to be good overall centering, though I could not visually inspect the physical card for exact corner wear, edge chipping, and centering, so the grade provided is a conservative estimate; expect the light edge and corner wear typical of a well-loved 1970 O-Pee-Chee issue and confirm it in hand. This is a true Canadian O-Pee-Chee bilingual back rather than a puzzle back. For a Hall of Fame cornerstone of the Roughriders dynasty at an accessible price, this Jack Abendschan card is an exceptional value. Grade Estimate: EX-MT 4
