The 1970 O-Pee-Chee CFL set stands as one of the great documents of Canadian football at the dawn of the seventies, produced in London, Ontario and sold in packs alongside gum across the country, and its black backs, green cartoon panels and bilingual biographies have made it instantly recognisable to generations of Canadian collectors. Schapansky, a six foot three tackle from the Bomber Junior Camp and the Western Wildcats junior program, typified the homegrown Canadian talent the league depended on, and the back text notes that he is a product of the Bombers junior program with much expected of him. This is a Canadian O-Pee-Chee bilingual back with full English and French biographies and the green cartoon panel captioned in both languages, the hallmark of authentic domestic O-Pee-Chee production. the defining flaw is a crease, running as a visible fold line through the right side of the card and carrying through the photo area so that it is detectable from both the front and the black back, accompanied by a secondary wrinkle near the lower left corner; the four corners show light to moderate touch wear with the top left and bottom left softened, there is a faint surface scratch through the sky at the upper right, and the edges carry small nicks along the bottom border. The black back shows moderate to heavy chipping in the classic pattern for this set, worst along the left edge and through the bottom corner region, and centering measures roughly fifty five to forty five left to right with a slightly wider bottom margin. There is no writing, no staining and no paper loss, and the card remains fully intact and structurally sound despite the fold. With a through crease present, any conservative assessment caps this in the GOOD to VG range regardless of the otherwise acceptable corners, so this is strictly a filler or reader copy for a 1970 O-Pee-Chee CFL set build.
