1970 O-Pee-Chee CFL Roger Perdrix #41 Bilingual Back Ottawa Rough Riders VG 3 Vintage CFL cardboard does not survive in quantity, and copies like this one explain why, since they were shuffled, traded and carried around by kids in the winter of 1970 and 1971. The 1970 O-Pee-Chee CFL Roger Perdrix #41 Bilingual Back Ottawa Rough Riders VG 3 offered here shows honest play wear while keeping the full image, the full bilingual text and all of its original paper. Perdrix is a name that Ottawa supporters of a certain age remember fondly. A Boston native who came north from the University of Cincinnati, he lined up on the Rough Riders line from 1966 through 1974 and was part of three Grey Cup winning squads in 1968, 1969 and 1973, playing alongside Tom Schuette, Moe Racine and Jerry Campbell during the most successful stretch in club history. The card back describes him in both official languages as having the reputation of being the hardest hitting guard in the league for his size, a line that doubles as a neat summary of his whole career. The issue it belongs to, the 115 card 1970 O-Pee-Chee CFL set, was printed in Canada and remains the most collected vintage CFL release alongside the 1971 follow up, in part because its design echoes the familiar second series 1969 Topps NFL look while giving each player a genuine Canadian stadium backdrop. This reverse is a Canadian O-Pee-Chee bilingual back with English and French biography text, white type on black stock, the green cartoon panel and the Printed in Canada credit. It is not a puzzle back. the front carries a diagonal crease across the upper left corner that extends a short distance into the stadium background, with a second lighter crease near the right border beside the team logo, the top left and bottom right corners show rounding while the other two are merely soft, there is edge chipping along the right border and light wear along the top edge, the surface is otherwise clean with no staining, and centering sits near 50/50 side to side, while the black reverse shows matching vertical crease impressions through the middle of the text block, whitening and small chips along the left edge and general handling scuffs, with no pen, pencil or tape. The conservative grade estimate of VG 3 is set by those two creases and the corner rounding, and the card is priced accordingly as an attractive filler for an Ottawa team run or a 1970 set build. Grade Estimate: VG 3
