Description

1970 O-Pee-Chee CFL Bob Krouse #21 Corner Linebacker Hamilton Tiger-Cats EX 5 Some players arrive from far away to become legends, and some are simply born into the jersey. Bob Krouse was Hamilton football royalty made good, a local product whose 1970 O-Pee-Chee CFL card, number 21 in the set, shows him in the number 14 jersey standing tall under the lights, the top-right card in the photographed nine-card sleeve and a single raw copy offered here exactly as scanned. The bilingual back is a love letter to the hometown star: corner linebacker Bob joined the Tiger-Cats directly from high school and rapidly became a star, it declares in English and French, listing the non-import at six foot one and 195 pounds with McMaster University as his football home. The green cartoon panel adds that Bob was a high-standing student in college, which fits everything Hamiltonians knew about a defender who played with his head as much as his heart. Krouse patrolled the corner for the great Ticats defences of the era, the units that carried the franchise through its late-sixties dominance and on to home glory in the December 1972 Grey Cup at Ivor Wynne Stadium, the 13 to 10 classic over Saskatchewan that remains one of the most replayed finishes the league has ever produced. Cards from the 1970 O-Pee-Chee CFL series have a look all their own, rich colour portraits framed in white with the player name in red and the team's circular logo bright at the lower right, while the reverse delivers that unmistakable black background, bilingual text and PRINTED IN CANADA along the edge, a combination no Topps issue of the period could offer. For Hamilton collectors this is a cornerstone name, a McMaster Marauder who never needed to leave town to become a professional star, and for player collectors of Canadian school products it is simply essential. Anyone searching 1970 O-Pee-Chee CFL Bob Krouse #21 Corner Linebacker Hamilton Tiger-Cats EX 5 has found the honest mid-grade copy they were hoping for, with the eye appeal to sit proudly in a binder and the price to let you keep chasing the rest of the team set. the front shows wear at the top-right corner with light whitening, minor edge chipping along the right border, and a few faint surface wrinkle lines in the upper photo area that catch the light under the scan, while centering sits near even with full borders intact; applying the page-flip mapping, this card's reverse appears at the top-left of the back scan and shows scattered faint wrinkle impressions across the black upper background, small white edge nicks and light corner wear, the bilingual text and green cartoon panel remaining clear and legible. This is the Canadian O-Pee-Chee bilingual back version of the card, not a puzzle back. Grade Estimate: EX 5
