Description

1970 O-Pee-Chee CFL Angelo Mosca #14 Hall of Famer Hamilton Tiger-Cats VG-EX 4 Own a compelling mid-grade example of the 1970 O-Pee-Chee CFL Angelo Mosca #14 Hall of Famer Hamilton Tiger-Cats VG-EX 4 card. The front shows Mosca wearing number 68 in the black and gold Hamilton uniform, a classic portrait that reflects the hard-edged identity of the Tiger-Cats during the club's championship years. Mosca was much more than a defensive tackle listed on a vintage card. He was a five-time Grey Cup champion, a five-time all-star and a Canadian Football Hall of Fame inductee whose physical style earned him a reputation as one of the most intimidating players in CFL history. He appeared in nine Grey Cup games and won once with Ottawa and four times with Hamilton. His later career as professional wrestler King Kong Mosca gives this card an unusual crossover appeal for collectors interested in both football and Canadian wrestling history. The 1970 release is part of a 115-card O-Pee-Chee CFL set printed for the Canadian market, with bright stadium photography on the fronts and bilingual information on the backs. The reverse photographed with this card is a Canadian O-Pee-Chee bilingual back, not a puzzle back. It includes the English and French biography, player measurements, Notre Dame University, non-import status, Hamilton team identification and the green illustrated off-season wrestling trivia panel. The Printed in Canada line is an important feature for identifying the issue. The front has good colour and a complete image, but several fine surface lines are visible across the stadium and dark jersey. The upper corners are rounded, the lower left corner has noticeable whitening, and the lower right corner has edge wear beside the logo. The long edges show intermittent chipping and small handling nicks. The reverse carries the more significant condition issue. A confirmed shallow crease runs through the black text area and approaches the green cartoon panel, with additional rubbing and whitening along the exposed edges. The crease is visible through the protective sheet and appears to affect the card surface rather than being solely a sleeve reflection. No tear, missing paper, writing or full fold is clearly visible. Centering is approximately 55/45 left to right and close to even vertically, with the front portrait slightly low within the frame. This is a desirable Hall of Fame subject and a visually complete raw card, priced to reflect the confirmed crease and visible wear rather than an unverified higher grade. Grade Estimate: VG-EX 4
