1970 O-Pee-Chee Bobby Thompson #78 Saskatchewan Roughriders

Description

1970 O-Pee-Chee Bobby Thompson #78 Saskatchewan Roughriders This 1970 O-Pee-Chee Bobby Thompson #78 is a wonderful vintage Canadian football card that brings the classic Saskatchewan Roughriders running game to your collection. Bobby Thompson was a rugged running back for the green and white during the late 1960s and into the early 1970s, part of a Saskatchewan offense that leaned on a physical ground game to keep the franchise in perennial Grey Cup contention. The 1970 O-Pee-Chee CFL set is celebrated by collectors precisely because of its bilingual presentation, with every card reverse carrying both English and French biographical text, a nod to the game's nationwide Canadian following. As card number 78 in the 115-card set, Thompson sits directly in the thick of the Roughriders team run alongside teammates like Ron Lancaster, Bob Kosid, George Reed, and Jack Abendschan, which makes this an important card for anyone assembling a full Saskatchewan team set. The card front presents Thompson in the distinctive white and green Saskatchewan uniform with a clean, classic portrait and bold team block, while the reverse offers his playing biography in both of Canada's official languages, exactly the feature that makes these O-Pee-Chee Canadian prints so desirable. The scan shows a card with no visible creases and generally solid centering, but because I could not visually inspect the physical card for exact corner wear, edge chipping, and centering, the grade below is a conservative estimate; the light corner and edge wear typical of a half-century-old O-Pee-Chee card should be verified in hand. This is a true Canadian O-Pee-Chee bilingual back rather than a puzzle back. For collectors building a Roughriders team set or simply adding affordable vintage CFL depth, this Bobby Thompson example is a reliable, character-filled choice that looks great in any binder or graded-card display.
