Gary Smith enjoyed a long and nomadic career in professional hockey, playing for numerous teams across both the NHL and WHA, earning him his famous nickname. Known for his eccentric playing style and tendency to skate far out of his net to handle the puck, Smith was a true character of the game. During the 1968-69 and 1969-70 seasons, he carried a massive workload for the Seals, facing an incredible volume of shots and leading the team into the postseason, cementing his status as a fan favorite in Oakland.

The reverse features the classic O-Pee-Chee bilingual back, which details his hockey lineage and explains his famous nickname in both official languages. The bright blue printing and cartoon illustrations bring a wonderful sense of nostalgia, capturing the lighthearted yet informative style that made vintage O-Pee-Chee cards so beloved by fans across Canada.
