Before becoming one of the greatest bench bosses in sports history, Arbour was a tough-as-nails, glasses-wearing defenseman. This card is a historic cross-over collectible that appeals enormously to both St. Louis Blues collectors and New York Islanders fans who revere his coaching legacy. This original 1969-70 O-Pee-Chee hockey card represents a fantastic snapshot of Arbour's final playing days. The classic design framing his iconic spectacles makes this one of the most visually distinct and recognizable cards in the entire 1969 checklist. It is a must-have for any collector specializing in Hockey Hall of Fame members. Al Arbour's legacy in the NHL is nearly unmatched. As a player, he won four Stanley Cups across multiple teams, including the Red Wings, Black Hawks, and Maple Leafs, before becoming the inaugural captain of the St. Louis Blues. He would later transition to behind the bench, coaching the New York Islanders dynasty to four consecutive Stanley Cups in the 1980s. This card honors his incredible on-ice leadership right before his legendary coaching career began. The card remains in solid, mid-grade excellent shape. The corners show minor wear and small touches but keep their square form. The edges are solid with standard vintage rough-cut texture. The front image shows great registration, with centering shifted slightly towards the left side. The reverse features the beautiful O-Pee-Chee bilingual back, offering clean blue and yellow colors with absolutely no signs of handwriting, ink stamps, or surface creasing. Grade Estimate: EX 5
