Description

1969-70 O-Pee-Chee Yvan Cournoyer O-Pee-Chee Real Lemieux #36 Rookie Los Angeles Kings Raw (EX 5) Add a magnificent piece of vintage expansion-era hockey history to your collection with this original 1969-70 O-Pee-Chee Yvan Cournoyer O-Pee-Chee Real Lemieux rookie card. This card features Lemieux in his classic blue New York Rangers sweater, though it lists him with the Los Angeles Kings following the historic 1967 NHL expansion. Lemieux was known as a gritty, fast-skating winger who played a vital role in establishing the physical identity of the early Kings franchise. This classic cardboard relic represents the inaugural year of O-Pee-Chee's independent modern production run in Canada, making it highly sought after by set builders and hockey history enthusiasts. The front of the card displays a beautiful portrait with solid registration and vibrant woodgrain border lines. A close look at the reverse confirms it is an authentic Canadian O-Pee-Chee bilingual back, showcasing a classic cartoon illustration along with English and French biographical narratives. This card exhibits exceptional preservation for its age. The centering sits slightly toward the right border but holds up well for the infamously miscut 1968-69 series. The corners show modest touches of softness but remain relatively square, avoiding severe rounding. Edges look crisp with minimal chipping or factory rough-cut friction. The surface gloss is clean on the front, while the back presents an immaculate blue and yellow canvas free from any pencil marks, wax stains, or print defects. Based on these features, it commands a strong mid-grade vintage status. Grade Estimate: EX 5
