Description

1966 O-Pee-Chee Batman Narrow Escape #21 Black Bat Series Add a dramatic climax to your vintage collection with this 1966 O-Pee-Chee Batman card number 21, titled Narrow Escape. The front artwork showcases a thrilling composition of Batman and Robin making a daring exit into the night sky while a criminal hideout burns down behind them. This classic scene represents the pinnacle of 1960s pulp trading card art, painted by master illustrator Norman Saunders with pencils by Bob Powell. The visual presentation beautifully channels the action-packed cliffhanger sequences that made the 1966 Adam West television show an overnight pop-culture phenomenon. This item is an authentic Canadian O-Pee-Chee printing, characterized by its thick card stock and bright orange back styling. The reverse side features narrative text detailing the Penguin scowling as his fiery hideout goes up in flames, complete with the standard O-Pee-Chee licensing text along the lower edge. A detailed look at the physical properties of this card provides a reliable look at its overall preservation. The lists modest corner wear with soft rounding across all four tips, typical for cards that were handled by young fans during the height of Bat-mania. The borders show light chipping with tiny white flecks along the midnight-black borders. Centering is shifted toward the top border, resulting in an uneven visual frame on the front illustration. The paint registration remains exceptionally bold, with vibrant yellows, deep blues, and fiery oranges that display spectacular eye appeal. The orange reverse is very clean, showing sharp typography and zero evidence of package wax stains or ink marks. No major flaws like surface creases, wrinkles, or card bends are present.
