Hohman's card closes out the 1971 O-Pee-Chee CFL Tiger-Cats run at number 75, with the full-bleed colour action photo, bold team banner, and the bilingual O-Pee-Chee back that defines early-70s Canadian football cards. It is a fantastic finishing card for anyone collecting the complete Hamilton run from this set. Card history: the 1971 O-Pee-Chee CFL set spans 132 cards across all nine Canadian Football League teams, with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at numbers 61 through 75. Printed by O-Pee-Chee of London, Ontario, the set is known for its full-bleed photography and its bilingual backs, which render every English biography in French, an iconic feature of Canadian cards. Card #75 is Jon Hohman's issue, the final Tiger-Cat in the run. The back notes that the 6'1", 245-pound offensive guard had already played for the Denver Broncos and was starting his fifth season with Hamilton, in both English and French. Player achievements: Jon Hohman played in the American Football League with the Denver Broncos in 1965 and 1966 before joining the Tiger-Cats, where he became a fixture on the offensive line through the early 1970s. By the time this card was issued he was starting his fifth season with Hamilton, one of the most experienced linemen on the club, and he was part of the team that won the 1972 Grey Cup, capping a career that bridged the AFL and the CFL. Having lined up against the likes of the Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders in the AFL, Hohman brought a level of professional experience to the Canadian game that younger imports could only learn from.
