1971 O-Pee-Chee Garney Henley #65 CFL Hall of Fame Hamilton Tiger-Cats This 1971 O-Pee-Chee Garney Henley card is a must-have for any vintage CFL collection, honoring arguably the greatest defensive back in Hamilton Tiger-Cats history and a Canadian Football Hall of Fame legend. Garney Henley is the player every Tiger-Cats fan knows, the South Dakota product who spent his entire 16-year career in Hamilton, and this is his classic early-70s O-Pee-Chee issue with the full-bleed colour photo and bilingual back that define the era. If you collect O-Pee-Chee CFL, Henley is one of the key cards in the run, and the most important name in this sleeve. Card history: the 1971 O-Pee-Chee CFL set is a 132-card issue covering all nine Canadian Football League teams, with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at numbers 61 through 75. Printed in Canada by O-Pee-Chee of London, Ontario, the set is famous for its full-bleed photography and its bilingual backs, which render every English biography in French. Card #65 is Garney Henley's card in the set. Collectors should note the documented uncorrected error on this issue: the front banner reads "Tiger Cats" without the hyphen, which is exactly how the card was printed in 1971. The back text notes that Henley coached the Guelph basketball team in the off-season and had become, in the card's own words, a living legend of the CFL. Player achievements: Garney Henley was named the CFL's Most Outstanding Player in 1972, was a four-time Grey Cup champion with Hamilton in 1963, 1965, 1967 and 1972, and retired as the CFL's all-time leader in interceptions with 63. He was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1979 and the College Football Hall of Fame in 2004, and no list of the greatest Tiger-Cats ever is complete without him. Beyond the hardware, Henley was beloved in Hamilton for his remarkable longevity and class, suiting up in the black and gold for 16 straight seasons, and his durability across three decades of CFL football remains a franchise benchmark. assessed from the high-resolution 1200-DPI scan of both sides. The card presents four sharp corners with no visible rounding or whitening, clean edges with no chipping or fraying, and a surface free of creases, wrinkles, indentations or marks in the scan. The front photo is framed evenly and the back frame shows well-balanced centering with no obvious print offset. The 1971 O-Pee-Chee Garney Henley card was scanned inside a protective sleeve, so fine handling marks can be hidden by sleeve reflection; grading conservatively from the photos, the raw Grade Estimate: EX-MT 6
