Description

1969-70 O-Pee-Chee Bob Plager #13 St. Louis Blues Vintage Hockey Card (VG-EX 4) Celebrate the early days of expansion hockey with this classic 1969-70 O-Pee-Chee Bob Plager #13 St. Louis Blues vintage hockey card. This early-career card showcases one of the most beloved and feared enforcers to ever wear a St. Louis sweater. It serves as a perfect addition for any Blues fan or collector focusing on the iconic expansion era of the late 1960s. The 1969-70 O-Pee-Chee set is widely praised for its bold, color-blocked frames and whimsical cartoon back design. As an early card in the set checklist (#13), these pieces were frequently subjected to elastic band wear and heavy handling by young collectors. This example has survived the decades wonderfully, highlighting the rich blue and red team colors of the St. Louis Blues logo. Bob Plager was the absolute heart and soul of the St. Louis Blues from their inception in 1967. Alongside his brothers Barclay and Bill, Bob forged a reputation for ferocious hip checks and absolute fearlessness on the ice. He helped lead the expansion Blues to three consecutive Stanley Cup Finals appearances from 1968 to 1970. Plager remains a legendary figure in St. Louis sports history, making this card a foundational piece of any franchise collection. A visual inspection shows a very well-preserved mid-grade vintage specimen. The corners exhibit wear and slight softening at the tips but remain clear. Edges are straight with minor natural paper aging. The front centering favors the upper-right corner but doesn't distract from Plager's detailed portrait. Turning the card over reveals the iconic O-Pee-Chee bilingual back. The bright yellow printing stock is clean and pristine, free from standard defects like pocket creases, surface wrinkles, or annotations. Grade Estimate: VG-EX 4
