Description

1971-72 O-Pee-Chee Syl Apps #77 Rookie Card Pittsburgh Penguins (EX 5) Take home a true cornerstone of early 1970s hockey history with this official 1971-72 O-Pee-Chee Syl Apps Rookie Card #77. Carrying one of the absolute legendary names in Canadian sports history, Syl Apps Jr. stepped out of his Hall-of-Fame father's shadow to forge a spectacular NHL career of his own, ultimately becoming the marquee star and leading scorer for the Pittsburgh Penguins during the 1970s. This card represents his highly sought-after rookie debut appearance in the hobby. It stands out beautifully from the rest of the lot with its unique, vibrant yellow "Penguins" text banner and the classic team logo stamped in the bottom corner. The card back features the important O-Pee-Chee bilingual narrative tracking his trade from New York to Pittsburgh where he immediately flourished. The cartoon feature notes his alma mater, Princeton University. This rookie card is an absolute necessity for any Pittsburgh Penguins fan or collector specializing in landmark NHL rookie cards. The corners show minor handling wear and light touches of softness at the tips, typical for an authentic un-graded rookie card from this era. The edges are clean with slight vintage cutting texture along the borders. Centering on the front is shifted toward the right side but preserves the central portrait and text beautifully. The front surface boasts excellent color depth, and the back remains in great condition with fully readable text and no deep creases or stains. Grade Estimate: EX 5
