Add a historic piece of goaltending royalty to your hockey collection with this spectacular 1972-73 O-Pee-Chee Tony Esposito #196 NHL Action hockey card. The 1972-73 O-Pee-Chee set remains highly sought after by vintage hockey hobbyists for its vibrant, bright border colors and incredible live-action photography. This particular "NHL Action" insert chronicles the unmatched intensity of "Chicago vs. Toronto" action, highlighting the iconic legendary Hall of Fame goalie, Tony Esposito, guarding the net for the Chicago Blackhawks. Known affectionately as "Tony O," Esposito revolutionized the position using his innovative butterfly style and went on to claim three Vezina Trophies, an iconic Calder Memorial Trophy, and a well-deserved spot in the Hockey Hall of Fame.

This original vintage trading card proudly features the iconic O-Pee-Chee bilingual back, delivering player biographies, insights, and career statistics in both English and French. This localized historical element makes Canadian OPC variants much scarcer and highly desirable compared to their standard American Topps equivalents. The flip side showcases a great write-up detailing Tony's shared Vezina victory with Gary Smith, along with his league-leading shutout achievements. It is an essential item for any serious vintage hockey card set builder, Blackhawks collector, or enthusiast of original 1970s sports memorabilia.

Condition Report: A careful visual analysis of this raw vintage asset reveals an exceptional preservation of quality that fits squarely into high-grade consideration. The centering is remarkably strong for this notoriously tough-to-center issue, presenting beautifully balanced side-to-side borders and top-to-bottom distribution. The edges are remarkably crisp, showing original factory paper cuts with minimal edge chipping along the bright golden-yellow borders. The corners are nicely squared and remain structurally sharp, exhibiting only faint, microscopic touches of fuzzy wear under close magnification. The surface gloss is clean and vibrant, free from any distracting surface scratches, wax stains, ink markings, wrinkles, or hidden creases. The rear cardboard backing shows highly clean surfaces with no signs of mildew, staining, or typical checklist marks. We estimate the condition of this raw card to be in excellent to mint condition around an EX-MT 6 grade.
