1972-73 O-Pee-Chee Doug Favell #16 Player Crest Shield Insert Philadelphia Flyers

Add a phenomenal piece of vintage hockey history to your collection with this rare 1972-73 O-Pee-Chee Doug Favell Player Crest insert card! Issued as a scarce filler insert in early 1970s Canadian O-Pee-Chee wax packs, these cloth shield stickers are notoriously difficult to find in clean, unpeeled condition. This specific card features goaltender Doug Favell of the Philadelphia Flyers inside a beautiful black and red die-cut shield design. For fans of vintage hockey memorabilia and the Broad Street Bullies era, this is a premium find that instantly elevates any collection.

Doug Favell was a cornerstone figure during the formative years of the expansion Philadelphia Flyers. Famous for being one of the first netminders to brightly paint his fiberglass goalie mask, Favell combined flash with fundamental grit. He played a key role in establishing the competitive identity of the Flyers before later joining the Toronto Maple Leafs and Colorado Rockies. These O-Pee-Chee Player Crest inserts were designed for young fans to peel and stick onto binders, clothing, or bedroom walls, which means very few survived the decades completely untouched, clean, and attached to their original brown cardboard backings.

Condition Report:
This vintage cloth sticker card is preserved in excellent raw condition. The front features bold bilingual French/English punch-out text reading "Push out — Moisten Back / Press Firmly to Flat Surface" which remains bright and fully legible. The outer edges of the card carrier exhibit minimal handling wear, with only light softening visible at the top corner tips. The cloth shield itself is completely unpeeled with no fraying along the internal die-cut line. Centering is shifted slightly toward the left margin, which is typical for this condition-sensitive issue. The brown pasteboard reverse shows light natural vintage toning but remains entirely free of ink marks, paper loss, or wax staining. No heavy surface creases or vertical wrinkles compromise the integrity of the cloth insert.
