1972-73 O-Pee-Chee Hockey Checklist #190 Unmarked 2nd Series Error #19 (EX 5)

Own a unique piece of goaltending history with this 1972-73 O-Pee-Chee Ken Dryden "Shield" insert, numbered 12 of 22. This wasn't your standard trading card; it was designed as a "push-out" card where the central shield could be popped out and displayed. Because of this intended use, finding an intact, unpunched example is becoming increasingly difficult for vintage hockey collectors. This card captures the legendary Ken Dryden during the peak of his dominance with the Montreal Canadiens, just after he secured his first Vezina Trophy.

Ken Dryden remains the only player in NHL history to win the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP before winning the Calder Trophy as rookie of the year. This 1972-73 insert is a fantastic companion piece to his second-year base card, offering a more artistic, portrait-style look at the HOF netminder. As an O-Pee-Chee exclusive, it features the bilingual instructions on the reverse, a must-have for those who value the Canadian heritage of the hobby.

Condition Report:
This card is remarkably well-preserved and remains completely unpunched. The black borders—which are notorious for showing every tiny bit of wear—show some light chipping along the edges and minor softening at the corners. The centering of the shield within the frame is slightly shifted toward the top-right. There are no creases, wrinkles, or hidden surface indentations visible. The bilingual back is exceptionally clean with no wax staining or marking. Based on the visible edge wear on the dark borders, we estimate this raw at an EX 5.
