1970-71 O-Pee-Chee
Bill Inglis #130 Buffalo Sabres RC Rookie VG-EX 4
Own a piece of Buffalo Sabres history! This 1970-71 O-Pee-Chee Bill Inglis #130 is a must-have for vintage hockey enthusiasts and Sabres fans alike. This card represents a significant milestone in the hobby: the very first year the legendary Buffalo Sabres appeared on a hockey card.
The Player & The Legend
Bill Inglis was a smooth-skating center who made his mark during the NHL’s expansion era. While he spent much of his playing career as a prolific scorer in the AHL—netting 40 goals for the Cincinnati Swords—he is perhaps best remembered in Buffalo as the man who stepped up to head coach the Sabres during the 1978-79 season, leading them to a winning record and a playoff appearance. This card captures him at the dawn of the Sabres franchise, making it a cornerstone for any team-focused collection.

The 1970-71 O-Pee-Chee Set
This set is beloved by collectors for its iconic "green back" design and its bilingual English and French text, a hallmark of Canadian O-Pee-Chee releases. Unlike its Topps counterpart, the OPC version of this set is the only place to find the true Buffalo Sabres rookie cards, as Topps did not include the expansion teams in their smaller 132-card run that year.

Condition Report
- Corners: The corners show moderate "fuzzy" wear consistent with a mid-grade vintage card. There is slight rounding on the top-left and bottom-right, but no major structural damage.
- Edges: The edges remain relatively crisp with minimal chipping, though the O-Pee-Chee "rough cut" is visible on the right border—a feature highly sought after by some vintage purists as a sign of authenticity.
- Centering: This specimen is slightly shifted toward the left and bottom on the front, common for this high-demand 1970 set.
- Surface/Back: The green bilingual back is clean with no major staining or ink marks, and the artist-rendered action sketch remains sharp and vibrant.
Grade Estimate
VG-EX 4 (Very Good to Excellent)
Self-assessment: The card is structurally sound and presents well, but the soft corners and centering prevent a higher technical grade.
