Gerry Desjardins #152 Chicago Black Hawks (Good 2)
Secure a piece of vintage goaltending history with this 1970-71 O-Pee-Chee Gerry Desjardins #152 hockey card. Known as one of the most underrated netminders of the 1970s, Desjardins was a key figure for the Chicago Black Hawks during an era of fierce competition. This card captures "Desi" in his prime, ready between the pipes for the legendary Chicago franchise. His career was marked by a resilience that saw him backstop teams through expansion years and deep playoff runs, including leading the Buffalo Sabres to the 1975 Stanley Cup Finals. Desjardins is also remembered for an unfortunate eye injury that ultimately led to the widespread adoption of the safer cage-style masks we see today.
This 1970-71 O-Pee-Chee Gerry Desjardins #152 features the iconic O-Pee-Chee bilingual back, which provides player biographical data and career statistics in both English and French—a hallmark of Canadian vintage sets that adds significant charm and collectability. The front design is a classic of the era, showcasing the bold red of the Black Hawks jersey against a clean background. Despite the technical grade, the eye appeal remains strong for a budget-friendly vintage filler.
Condition Report:
Centering: The centering on the front is quite good for the era, approximately 55/45.
Corners: Upon closer inspection, there are slight creases/wrinkles present in two of the corners. These creases break the surface gloss and are the primary factor in the lower technical grade.
Edges: The edges are relatively clean for an OPC cut, with only minor shelf wear.
Surface: The colors are vibrant and the image is clear. Outside of the corner creases, there are no major surface stains or heavy scratching.
Grade Estimate: Due to the two corner creases, the estimated raw grade is Good 2.
