1972-73 O-Pee-Chee Jim Peters #224 Los Angeles Kings

Description

1972-73 O-Pee-Chee Jim Peters #224 Los Angeles Kings Serious 1972-73 O-Pee-Chee set builders know that the high numbers are where the set gets difficult, and this 1972-73 O-Pee-Chee Jim Peters #224 Los Angeles Kings card is a strong example of exactly that territory. Numbered 224 in a 341 card set, this card comes from the print runs that were produced in smaller effective quantities because wax boxes sold through unevenly by spring of 1973, and survivors this clean are far scarcer than the low numbers every collector owns. Peters was a big, honest two-way centre, the son of a former NHL player of the same name, and the bilingual English and French biography on the back tells the story of an NHL career interrupted, of rehabbing his way back to the Kings lineup and earning his shift as a reliable forward in front of the Forum faithful, confirming the authentic Canadian O-Pee-Chee bilingual back rather than a puzzle back. The front portrait, with Peters smiling against the green studio backdrop in the gold and purple Kings colors, is one of the warmer images in the Los Angeles team run, and the bilingual back carries his career record and the classic cartoon humor that defines this issue, all sealed with the orange PRINTED IN CANADA imprint.
