Description

1972-73 O-Pee-Chee Charlie Burns #178 Minnesota North Stars GD 2 This 1972-73 O-Pee-Chee Charlie Burns #178 is a well-worn, honestly graded copy of the memorable close-up North Stars portrait, offered at an affordable price for the collector who wants a set filler, a trade piece, or an inexpensive way to own a card tied to one of hockey's rare player-coaches. Burns is shown in the striking head-and-shoulders photograph set against the vivid magenta-pink background, his green-collared Minnesota sweater and the warm tan border delivering the unmistakable charm of this classic Canadian vintage issue. Charlie Burns brings genuine historical intrigue to any collection. A rugged, defensively responsible forward and natural leader, he took on the rare role of player-coach for the Minnesota North Stars during the 1969-70 campaign, a distinction that makes him far more than an ordinary common and a favorite talking point for fans of expansion-era hockey. His durable career and coaching legacy keep steady interest in his cardboard among North Stars team collectors and set builders. As with the entire release, this is a genuine Canadian O-Pee-Chee bilingual back, featuring English and French biographical text, the full NHL statistical grid, and the classic OPC cartoon, the defining feature that sets the desirable O-Pee-Chee printing apart from the American Topps version. this copy shows a visible crease affecting the surface, along with light-to-moderate corner rounding on all four corners, minor edge chipping along the tan border, and reasonable centering front and back. The magenta background stays bold and the close-up image of Burns remains clear and recognizable, but the crease is the defining flaw and is disclosed plainly so the buyer knows exactly what to expect. The bilingual reverse displays typical age toning and a few edge nicks while remaining fully readable. Given the crease in addition to the softened corners and light border wear visible in the scans, a conservative raw grade estimate places this copy in the Good range, a transparent and deliberately cautious call that protects the buyer and reflects precisely what the photos reveal. Whether you need a budget Burns for your 1972-73 OPC set project, a spare for your Minnesota North Stars run, or simply enjoy owning a card tied to one of the league's rare player-coaches, this single offers strong character at an accessible price. It ships carefully in a penny sleeve and top loader, protected and ready for your binder or collection. Grade Estimate: GOOD
