1970 O-Pee-Chee CFL Larry Fairholm #102 Montreal Alouettes VG 3

Description

1970 O-Pee-Chee CFL Larry Fairholm #102 Montreal Alouettes VG 3 Here is a second chance at a genuine Canadian star from a landmark set, a 1970 O-Pee-Chee CFL Larry Fairholm #102 Montreal Alouettes VG 3 single priced for the practical collector. O-Pee-Chee printed this 115-card CFL issue in London, Ontario for distribution across Canada, and the reverse is the authentic bilingual back with English and French text side by side over the classic black background, not a puzzle back. The write-up celebrates a legitimate blue-chip resume, calling Fairholm a CFL All-Star rated as one of the best defensive halfbacks in the league and a winner of the Jeff Russel Memorial Trophy, while the green cartoon panel notes that Larry is one of the most popular players with the Alouettes. That popularity was earned honestly. Born in Montreal, Fairholm starred at the University of Arizona before returning to patrol the secondary for his hometown team, a rare non-import difference maker at a skill position, listed at six feet and 195 pounds. His timing was perfect too, as the Alouettes rolled to the 1970 Grey Cup championship during the very season this card hit store shelves, cementing this issue as a snapshot of a title-winning roster. The front presents Fairholm in his green number 19 jersey in the ready position on a bright summer field, with the set's signature white border and red initial letter in the nameplate. this copy shows more pronounced wear along the top edge, including visible chipping and a soft ding near the upper right corner, general corner rounding at all four tips, centering slightly high, and light surface wear on both sides, though no significant crease is detected across the front or the dark back. Because the top edge wear is the dominant flaw, we grade this one conservatively at VG 3 and price it accordingly, making it a smart filler copy or an affordable way to add a trophy winner and Grey Cup champion to your collection. As CFL vintage continues to gain collector attention, well-priced copies of legitimate stars like Fairholm rarely sit for long. Shipped sleeved and protected from our Ontario shop. Grade Estimate: VG 3
