1970 O-Pee-Chee CFL Gene Cipetelli #105 Montreal Alouettes VG-EX 4

Description

1970 O-Pee-Chee CFL Gene Cipetelli #105 Montreal Alouettes VG-EX 4 Step back to the season the Montreal Alouettes shocked the country and hoisted the Grey Cup, with this 1970 O-Pee-Chee CFL Gene Cipetelli #105 Montreal Alouettes VG-EX 4 vintage football card. Issued by O-Pee-Chee of London, Ontario for the 1970 Canadian Football League season, this 115-card set is a true piece of Canadiana, printed in Canada with fully bilingual English and French text on the back rather than a puzzle back. The reverse of this card carries the classic black background with the lime green cartoon panel, here showing the charming gag that Gene likes to fish, alongside his vitals of six foot one and 250 pounds and his non-import designation. Cipetelli's story is one collectors of both CFL and NFL vintage will appreciate. A native of North Bay, Ontario, the burly offensive centre took the rare path of heading south first, toiling in the NFL trenches for the Philadelphia Eagles, the New York Giants and the San Francisco 49ers before coming home to anchor the middle of the Montreal offensive line. He arrived just in time to be part of the storybook 1970 Alouettes squad that captured the Grey Cup, making this card a snapshot of a championship roster. The front photo is pure 1970 O-Pee-Chee, with Cipetelli crouched over the ball in his green Alouettes jersey number 45 against a bright summer sky, framed in the set's signature white border with his name in bold red and black type. this copy presents with light and even corner rounding at all four tips, minor edge chipping along the borders, centering slightly shifted toward the bottom, and honest surface wear consistent with five decades of careful storage, with no major crease detected on either side. Given the corner touches and light border wear, we grade conservatively at VG-EX 4, acknowledging that a stricter grader could see a strong VG while an optimist might argue EX, so the buyer gets full transparency. Low-population Canadian football issues from this era are far scarcer than their American counterparts, and Alouettes cards from the 1970 championship year enjoy steady demand from team collectors in Quebec and set builders across the country. Whether you are chasing the full 1970 O-Pee-Chee CFL run, building a Grey Cup champions roster set, or hunting hometown Ontario heroes who cracked NFL lineups, this Cipetelli belongs in your collection. It ships carefully protected from our Ontario shop. Grade Estimate: VG-EX 4
