1971 O-Pee-Chee CFL Frank Andruski #118 Bilingual Back Calgary Stampeders
This 1971 O-Pee-Chee CFL Frank Andruski #118 Bilingual Back Calgary Stampeders card is a clean and appealing vintage single from a classic Canadian Football League release. Andruski appears in a sharp head and shoulders image wearing Calgary red, with the Stampeders logo at the lower left and defensive halfback printed beneath the team name. The front has the bold red design that makes the 1971 O-Pee-Chee CFL issue immediately recognizable, while the reverse provides a strong player story that adds real collector interest. The back identifies Andruski as an import from the University of Utah and notes that he was the most valuable player as a defensive halfback in junior college. It also states that he was selected to the W. F. C. and All-Canadian All-Star teams in 1967, 1968, and 1969, placing him among the notable defensive backs of the period. The cartoon panel adds another interesting detail by noting that Frank played one season with the San Francisco 49ers, giving the card crossover appeal for collectors who enjoy NFL and CFL player connections. The 1971 O-Pee-Chee CFL set is popular with vintage football collectors because it combines bright team designs, bilingual reverse text, and a distinctly Canadian identity. This is a Canadian O-Pee-Chee bilingual back, not a puzzle back, with English and French biography text printed in Canada. The front shows strong colour and a clean player image with light to moderate corner wear, small white chips and touches along the red borders, minor surface specks, and centering that appears slightly off but visually solid. The top and side edges have tiny chips, the lower corners show soft handling, and the red field has minor wear typical of this issue. The back shows cream to tan age toning, darker edge aging, rounded corner tips, and a few scattered marks, while the biography and cartoon panel remain readable. No obvious major crease, writing, or paper loss is visible in the provided sleeve scan. Because the card remains inside the protective page, very fine wrinkles or surface gloss issues cannot be fully ruled out, but the visible condition supports a strong raw collector example. The 1971 O-Pee-Chee CFL Frank Andruski #118 Bilingual Back Calgary Stampeders is an excellent addition for Calgary collectors, defensive back collectors, San Francisco 49ers crossover collectors, and complete 1971 OPC CFL set builders.
