Description

1970 O-Pee-Chee Jerry Bradley #30 British Columbia Lions EX 5 The 1970 O-Pee-Chee Jerry Bradley #30 British Columbia Lions EX 5 card offers collectors an appealing piece of Canadian football history from one of the most distinctive CFL issues of its era. Bradley is shown wearing number 12 and kneeling on the field in the Lions’ white uniform, with the open stadium, brilliant blue sky, and vintage British Columbia lion emblem creating an unmistakably period presentation. The clean photographic composition is closely related to the design used for the second series of 1969 Topps American football cards, but the stadium setting and Canadian subject matter give this O-Pee-Chee release its own identity. Produced in Canada as part of a 115-card set, the issue documented the personalities who shaped the Canadian Football League at the beginning of the 1970s. Bradley played flanker for British Columbia and arrived in the CFL after playing college football at East Tennessee State. His card back notes that he was called back to Canada after being cut by the Argonauts and had played in the East-West Shrine Game during his senior college season. The reverse also includes a charming football cartoon and trivia panel, a memorable feature of the set. Text appears in both English and French, making this an authentic Canadian O-Pee-Chee bilingual back. It is not a puzzle back. Bradley’s position at flanker connects this card to an exciting period in which Canadian football offences were developing increasingly sophisticated passing attacks, making dependable receivers essential to CFL rosters. The card is also an attractive team collectible for followers of the BC Lions, whose recognizable orange lion emblem appears prominently at the lower right of the front. The card displays moderate rounding and softness at all four corners, with the lower corners showing the most visible wear, while the cream borders have scattered age toning, small surface marks, and light edge chipping. The front image retains strong blue, green, orange, and white colour, although slight print wear and tiny specks are visible under close inspection. Centering is reasonably balanced from left to right, with a mild vertical bias and an uneven vintage factory cut. The reverse shows expected roughness and chipping around the black perimeter, particularly near the corners, but its bilingual biography and cartoon remain bold and legible. No definite full crease is visible in the supplied photographs, and no major paper loss or writing is apparent. A conservative EX 5 estimate accounts for the softened corners, perimeter wear, minor surface imperfections, and typical production quality. This raw card has not been professionally graded, so the stated grade should be treated as an informed visual estimate rather than a guarantee. Grade Estimate: EX 5
