1969-70 O-Pee-Chee Bob Dillabough #150 Oakland Seals VG-EX 4
Bring home an authentic piece of NHL expansion history with this 1969-70 O-Pee-Chee Bob Dillabough #150 Oakland Seals VG-EX 4 card. Dillabough is pictured in the distinctive green and blue Oakland uniform, holding his stick in a classic studio-style hockey pose. The original Seals crest appears in the upper-right corner, while the large red team name, black skate illustration and circular center marker create a bold period design. Cards associated with the Oakland and California Golden Seals have become enduring conversation pieces because the franchise combined memorable uniforms, a passionate niche following and one of the most unconventional histories in major professional hockey. Bob Dillabough brought valuable experience to that expansion environment. The Belleville, Ontario native entered the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings and later appeared for the Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins before joining Oakland. His career reflects the changing hockey landscape of the 1960s, when league expansion increased movement between teams and gave established professional players fresh roles. Although Dillabough was not primarily known as a scoring star, he supplied versatility at center and accumulated more than 200 NHL regular season appearances. The reverse records his totals through the 1968-69 season and describes his continued potential in the league. This is an original Canadian O-Pee-Chee card with English and French text, a printed-in-Canada statement and a bilingual cartoon about Dillabough playing for four NHL clubs. It is not a puzzle back. These Canadian characteristics distinguish it from the closely related United States Topps version and make it desirable to collectors building a genuine O-Pee-Chee set. This second photographed example has visibly softened and rounded corners, most noticeably at the upper-left and lower-left. The cream border has age toning, small dark specks and chipping along several edges. Centering is shifted to the right, producing a noticeably wider left border and a narrow right border beside the skate design. Several diagonal surface lines are visible across the image, especially near the upper half. Some may be scratches or reflections on the protective sleeve, so they cannot all be conclusively attributed to the card, but they reduce confidence in a higher photographic grade. No unmistakable full-width crease can be confirmed. The reverse shows moderate corner and edge wear, scattered discoloration and light abrasions while remaining complete and easily readable. A conservative VG-EX 4 estimate accounts for the corner rounding, edge wear, off-centering and possible surface scratching. The card retains strong vintage character and an appealing player image, but it does not have the sharper structure expected at the EX-MT level. As an ungraded card assessed through scans, its final condition should be verified in hand before professional submission.
