1972-73 O-Pee-Chee Kevin O’Shea #257 St. Louis Blues

$5.00

Playoff heroes come in unexpected packages, and this 1972-73 O-Pee-Chee Kevin O’Shea #257 St. The left edge shows a heavy rough factory cut with pronounced fibering, and there are faint vertical surface lines visible in the photo area near the left shoulder and lower glove — consistent with a print-roller flaw or light surface rub; we cannot fully exclude a shallow surface wrinkle, so we price as though it were one. Raw Grade Estimate: VG-EX 4.

Description

1972-73 O-Pee-Chee Kevin O'Shea #257 St. Louis Blues Playoff heroes come in unexpected packages, and this 1972-73 O-Pee-Chee Kevin O'Shea #257 St. Louis Blues card commemorates one of the most dramatic goals in early Blues history, available from Alex Collect. On April 16, 1972, in Game 7 of the quarter-final against the Minnesota North Stars, the big Toronto-born winger fired home the sudden-death overtime winner that sent St. Louis to the semi-finals — a moment the card back celebrates in both English and French, noting the "overtime goal which won the quarter-final Stanley Cup series for St. Louis over Minnesota in 1972." O'Shea was also half of one of hockey's family stories: he and brother Danny formed one of the NHL's brother combinations, both skating for the Blues, while the card back playfully compares them to the Plager brothers on the same roster. Pictured in full pose against the set's brilliant green background in the white, blue and gold Blues sweater with number 21 on both arms, this card radiates seventies charm. The reverse is the authentic Canadian O-Pee-Chee bilingual back, printed in Canada, with cartoon, dual-language biography and a three-season NHL career record — a bilingual bio back, not a puzzle back. we grade this card the most conservatively of the sheet and disclose everything. Centering is shifted slightly left, corners show modest wear with soft tips at the top left, and the back is clean, unmarked and evenly toned with no paper loss. Factoring in the surface lines, our honest raw estimate is VG-EX 4. For Blues team collectors, overtime-goal historians, and fans of hockey's brother acts, this is an affordable, storied piece of 1972 playoff lore. Own the man who ended a Game 7 in overtime — few commons carry a moment this big. Grade Estimate: VG-EX 4
