1973-74 O-Pee-Chee Greg Sheppard #8 Boston Bruins Add low-number Boston star power with this 1973-74 O-Pee-Chee Greg Sheppard #8 Boston Bruins, a highly collectible early number card that anchors the start of this iconic O-Pee-Chee set and showcases a player who became one of the league’s most consistent two-way centers. This is the authentic 1973-74 Canadian O-Pee-Chee issue, with the famous blood-red border, vintage photography and full bilingual back, a favorite for set builders because low numbers suffered heavy rubber band damage. Greg Sheppard was coming into his own when this card hit packs. After missing 14 games in 1972-73 the back notes, he still delivered 24 goals and 26 assists for 50 points in just 64 games, cementing his role as Boston’s clutch second-line center behind Esposito. A two-time 20-goal scorer who would later eclipse 30 goals and skate in All-Star Games, Sheppard represents the Bruins’ incredible depth during the Orr-Esposito championship window, an era that defined pop-culture hockey in New England and still drives vintage Bruins demand today. The front image is a memorable leaning pose with his stick and the big B logo front and center, while the turquoise studio backdrop gives this card a unique hue compared to the darker poses on other cards in the sheet. This is confirmed as a Canadian O-Pee-Chee bilingual back, with English and French bio stating he was Central Hockey League MVP before Boston, plus the humorous cartoon and PRINTED IN CANADA notation at the bottom. It is not a puzzle back and not a Topps reprint, it is the original OPC dark stock. Front centering is moderately off at roughly 65/35 favoring left, which is visible in the wider red border on left versus tight on right, typical for number 8 in the sheet. The red border shows minor white chipping along the lower edge and top border edge wear, with all four corners showing light rounding but no bends. Surface gloss appears intact with no scratches or print lines, and the green lettering BRUINS ribbon remains sharp. Back scan dark stock shows even browning with a clean stats box detailing his 1972-73 record, no writing or residue, cartilage-like small print area has a faint print dot near the penalty minutes but no major stain. No creases, no wrinkles, no surface ripples. The conservative grade explanation rests on centering bias and corner softness, not on any hidden defect, which makes this a strong EX-range low number for any Bruins or O-Pee-Chee master set. Don’t miss this early-number Bruins center at Alex Collect. Grade Estimate: VG-EX 4.5
