Claude Provost remains one of the most underrated icons of the historic Montreal franchise, standing out as a key contributor to nine separate Stanley Cup championship teams. Known across the NHL as an elite defensive forward and a premier shadow capable of shutting down superstars like Bobby Hull, Provost was honored in the 1967-68 season as the inaugural winner of the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy for his perseverance and sportsmanship. This piece originates from the classic 1969-70 O-Pee-Chee base set, which captures the tail-end of a storied career in a highly recognizable hockey-stick border layout. This specific card represents a true Canadian collectible variant, featuring the distinct O-Pee-Chee bilingual reverse side with write-ups presented in both English and French text, making it a highly desirable addition for serious vintage set builders and Canadiens team collectors alike. The for this raw item shows a clear look at its preservation over the decades. The centering is shifted towards the right side on the front but remains well within acceptable bounds for a vintage paper issue. The edges show minor chipping and touch-wear consistent with standard album storage from the era. The corners display soft rounding and touch wear, though the visual appeal remains strong with vibrant red and blue team pigments in the jersey design. No heavy creasing or deep surface wrinkles are immediately apparent across the primary focal areas of the player portrait. Based on these observed wear patterns, it receives a conservative Grade Estimate: EX 5
